Forest Pest Insects in Sabah

Sabah has one of the richest tropical rain forest habitats, but economic pressure as well as rapid development have halved her natural forest cover within the past thirty years. The Sabah Government is taking intensive efforts to reforest the logged-over areas and degraded sites. A vital component of the strategy to achieve sustainable forest management is the establishment of forest plantations. A danger with massive monoculture plantation forest is the outbreak of pest insects. This illustrated book highlights the more common or striking pest insects the author encountered in his job as a forest entomologist, with notes on the pest biology and methods of control. Many of the pest insects included here are also important in forestry as well as agriculture in other parts of South-east Asia.
